AirPods Pro Surprise Launch with New Design and Noise Cancellation
The rumors were wrong, the new AirPods Pro had been presented to the media in advance. Apple dropped the bomb without a dedicated event and made them available immediately on Apple.com and in the Apple App Store. They are available physically in stores from today, Wednesday, October 30th.
AirPods Pro New Features Explained
The AirPods Pro list of features (both new and improved) is impressive:
- active noise cancellation
- transparency mode
- sweat and water resistance
- immersive sound
- lightweight in-ear design.
The third generation of beloved (and hated by someone) wireless earphones of Apple is now equipped with the most requested function of active noise cancellation and redesigned from the ground up.
It starts right from the design that becomes more round and comfortable with three-dimensional silicone pads. Apple uses an innovative ventilation system with pressure equalization to further maximize comfort and minimizes frequent distress in other in-ear design. The AirPods Pro are obviously resistant to sweat and water. The degree of protection is IPX4 according to the IEC 60529 standard, therefore not for aquatic activities: do not jump off in the pool while you got them in your ears. If you exclude swimming, this makes them perfect for practically anything, from sport to the tasks of everyday life.
Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, declared to the press:
“AirPods are the best-selling headphones in the world. The one-tap setup experience, incredible sound and iconic design have made them a beloved Apple product, and with AirPods Pro, we’re taking the magic even further. The new in-ear AirPods Pro sound amazing with Adaptive EQ, fit comfortably with flexible ear tips and have innovative Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. We think customers are going to love this new addition to the AirPods family”.Phil Schiller, Apple’s Worldwide Marketing Senior Vice President
The AirPods Pro are added to the existing AirPods line. Like the other earphones, they magically configure themselves in a few seconds, doing almost everything on their own. Just open the new, wider and shorter, charging case next to an iOS device to instantly combine AirPods Pro with all devices connected to the user’s iCloud account: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and iPod touch.
AirPods Pro Active Noise Cancellation
The active cancellation noise of AirPods Pro is probably the most awaited feature. It uses two microphones (one facing outward, the other inward) combined with an advanced software for continuous adaptation. The audio signal is retouched 200 times per second to each ear and earphone. In this way, the background noises are eliminated with an equivalent signal, the listening experience is even more personalized, and you get less distracted.
AirPods Pro also offer adaptive equalization, which automatically adjusts the low and medium frequencies of the music based on the shape of the single ear, for a tailor-made or almost personal listening experience. A high dynamic range amplifier produces a clean and crystal clear sound while prolonging the battery life.
The speaker driver with distortion reduction and high excursion works on the quality of the audio content and, again, on the removal of background noise. The driver provides bass up to 20 Hz and detailed sound in both high frequencies and the midrange range.
What is AirPods Pro transparency mode?
Transparency mode is the one that allows you to stay connected with the surrounding environment: car’s horns, the announcement at the station or airport, a person talking, and so on.
The transparency mode ensures that the voices and environmental sounds are natural even if you wear headphones and at the same time, preserves the listening experience. From active noise cancellation to transparency mode, you pass by touching a pressure sensor located on the stem of the headphones.
AirPods Pro Battery Life
AirPods Pro integrate a SiP (System in Package) with an H1 chip designed by Apple. The H1 has 10 audio cores. Autonomy is five hours of uninterrupted listening. In active noise canceling mode, they offer up to four and a half hours of listening and up to three and a half hours of conversation on a single charge. With some extra charging through the wireless charging case, you get over 24 hours of listening or over 18 hours of talk time. Charging can be done either wirelessly or via Lightning port.
Among other things, if you want to share a song or a podcast with a friend, you just need a second pair of AirPods next to an iPhone or iPad.
